A serious accident occurred at a pharma company in Anakapalle, Andhra Pradesh, on Wednesday, August 21. An explosion took place in the company’s reactor, causing a fire that injured 18 people. The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
According to reports, the blast happened in a reactor at a company located in the Achyutapuram SEZ. Medical teams are closely monitoring the condition of the injured, and their families have arrived at the hospital, expressing anger and concern over the incident.
A Bigger Disaster Averted
There are claims that a bigger disaster was averted in this incident. The explosion occurred during lunch time when most of the workers had gone outside, leaving only a few employees near the reactor. This timing likely prevented a higher number of casualties.
Eyewitness Accounts
Eyewitnesses described the scene as terrifying, with thick black smoke rising from the reactor and flames shooting high into the sky. They shared that the sight was alarming and caused great concern.
Panic Spread Among Villagers
The smoke from the explosion quickly spread to nearby villages, causing panic among the villagers. The thick smoke made it difficult for them to breathe and even obstructed their vision.
Officials have initiated a rescue operation at the site, with the district collector and the superintendent of police overseeing the situation. An investigation into the cause of the accident has also been ordered.
