On the morning of October 8, 2024, around 11 AM, Instagram services suddenly went down. Many users took to social media to report that they were facing issues using Instagram.
A website that tracks online services, Downdetector, also showed that many users reported problems with Instagram, confirming that there was an issue.
When Did Instagram Go Down?
According to reports on Downdetector, Instagram went down around 10:45 AM. By that time, less than 30 people had complained, but by 11:30 AM, more than 1,900 users reported not being able to use Instagram.
Additionally, people took to the micro-blogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to share their experiences about the Instagram outage. Many users posted about their difficulties using the app.

Users Share Information on Social Media
Since millions of users in India use Instagram, even a few seconds of downtime causes a lot of noise on social media. However, as of now, there has been no official statement from Instagram’s parent company, Meta, regarding today’s outage.
Users shared screenshots on social media showing the message “Sorry, Something Went Wrong” when trying to open Instagram. However, by the time this article was written, the number of outage reports on Downdetector had dropped to less than 100. We also tested Instagram, and it was working fine.
