In a major action, Purnia DIG Pramod Kumar Mandal has suspended Fulkaha Police Station SHO Raunak Kumar Singh and home guard driver Ajay Kumar Paswan in connection with the death of ASI Rajeev Ranjan Mall. The ASI died on March 12 due to a head injury during a police raid. The Araria district police released an official statement on Tuesday regarding this suspension.
Irresponsible Leadership and Negligence
- The case was registered as Fulkaha PS Case No. 40/25, dated 13.03.2025.
- The DIG of Purnia police supervised the investigation and found that SHO Raunak Kumar Singh acted irresponsibly.
- The DIG suspended SHO Singh on March 18 for his poor leadership, carelessness, and lack of discipline.
- The home guard driver Ajay Kumar Paswan has been sent back to the police center.
How Did the Incident Happen?
DIG Pramod Kumar Mandal explained the mistakes made during the raid:
- The SHO entered a narrow alley with the vehicle in reverse.
- After arresting the suspect, they could not move the vehicle out, leading to chaos.
- The raid location had a wedding ceremony with around 1,500 people gathered.
- No proper record of the raid was kept in the station diary.
- The SHO did not inform senior officers or handle the situation properly.
DIG’s Statement on the Case
DIG Mandal stated that due to the SHO’s negligence, the situation got out of control, leading to the tragic death of ASI Rajeev Ranjan Mall. He assured that strict action will be taken against those responsible.
