Santosh Kumar Singh On Mamata Banerjee: In response to the Kolkata incident where BJP workers were targeted with batons and tear gas by Mamata Banerjee’s government, Bihar minister Santosh Kumar Singh made a strong prediction. He said, “A lamp flickers before it goes out,” implying that Mamata Banerjee’s time in power is coming to an end. He believes that she is nearing the end of her political career, and in desperation, she might resort to using tear gas or even bullets against people. Singh criticized Mamata Banerjee for not standing up for women despite being a woman herself.
Santosh Kumar Singh’s Criticism of Mamata Banerjee
Santosh Kumar Singh suggested that Mamata Banerjee should resign on moral grounds and retire from politics. He argued that there is no place in politics for someone who cannot make decisions in sensitive situations, especially concerning women. He claimed that while the rest of the world might forgive her, the people of Bengal and their democratic system will not.
Regarding Mamata Banerjee’s statement that if Bengal burns, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Delhi will also burn, Singh responded that the BJP neither starts fires nor encourages such behavior. He emphasized that the BJP believes in the principle of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” meaning the world is one family, and the party does not have any agenda to cause harm.
“No Place for Such Acts in Democracy”
Singh further stated that the BJP never supported atrocities against women and that democracy is meant to protect everyone’s rights. He condemned any violent actions, suggesting that there is no place for such deeds in a democratic society, implying that Mamata Banerjee’s actions are not acceptable in a democracy.
