It has been 10 days since the election results in Delhi were announced, but the BJP has not yet declared its Chief Minister (CM) candidate. Acting Delhi CM Atishi questioned the delay, saying the BJP is struggling to find a clean and qualified leader due to corruption charges against its MLAs.
Atishi’s Allegation Against BJP
Atishi criticized the BJP, saying:
“It has been 10 days since the results, but the BJP’s central leadership has not been able to choose a CM face for Delhi. The reason for this delay is the corruption allegations against their MLAs. The party is unable to find a qualified leader.”
BJP’s Response: No Shortage of Capable Leaders
BJP spokesperson RP Singh responded to Atishi’s comments, stating:
“We have no shortage of capable leaders. The BJP has many qualified candidates who can take on the responsibility of Chief Minister. Our central leadership is carefully selecting a leader who can fulfill BJP’s promises and meet public expectations.”
When Will BJP Announce the CM?
RP Singh assured that the CM’s name will be announced within the next 2-3 days. He confirmed that:
- A legislative party meeting will be held within two to three days to finalize the CM’s name.
- The oath-taking ceremony is likely to happen between February 20-21.
- The new cabinet will start working by next Sunday.
- Senior BJP leaders and NDA allies will be invited to the swearing-in ceremony.
According to sources, the legislative party meeting is expected on February 19 or 20, followed by the swearing-in ceremony on February 20 or 21.
