Early Life and Education

Atishi was born in 1981 to parents who were both professors at Delhi University. Her father, Vijay Singh, and her mother, Tripta Wahi, were both educators. Raised in a Punjabi and Rajput mixed family, Atishi completed her early education in Delhi.

She attended Springdales School on Pusa Road, New Delhi, for her high school education. She then pursued a Bachelor’s degree in History from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University. Continuing her studies, she went to Oxford University, where she earned a Master’s degree in History in 2003, supported by a Chevening scholarship.

Further Education Abroad

After completing her Master’s, Atishi continued her education at Magdalen College, Oxford, from 2005. She is known as a politician, educator, political activist, and Member of Parliament. From July 2015 to April 2018, she worked as the Education Advisor to Manish Sisodia, who was then the Deputy Chief Minister.

Joining AAP

Atishi joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in 2013 and played a crucial role in reforming Delhi’s education system. She served as the Chief Advisor to Education Minister Manish Sisodia and later took on the role of Education Minister herself.

Teaching Experience

Before entering politics, Atishi worked as an activist and spent seven years in a small village in Madhya Pradesh. She was involved in various educational and organic farming initiatives. Her first encounter with AAP members happened during this period. She also taught History and English at Rishi Valley School in Andhra Pradesh.

According to media reports, Atishi’s net worth is approximately ₹1.41 crore. She has assets valued at this amount. On March 9, 2023, she was appointed as a Cabinet Minister in the Delhi government, handling departments including Education, Women and Child Welfare, Culture, Tourism, and Public Works, along with additional responsibilities in Revenue, Planning, and Finance.
