UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has suspended IAS officer Abhishek Prakash over allegations of demanding a bribe for setting up a solar industry in the state. This action shows the CM’s strict stance against corruption. However, this is not the first time he has taken such a tough step. So far, 11 officers have been suspended under his leadership, though some were later reinstated.
Why was Abhishek Prakash Suspended?
Abhishek Prakash was accused of taking a commission for allowing a solar industry to be set up in UP. After an investigation found him guilty, he was suspended. CM Yogi is known for his zero-tolerance policy on corruption.
Previously, IAS officer Ghanshyam Singh was also suspended in Lakhimpur Kheri for delaying land measurement. However, he was later reinstated.
Other Officers Suspended in UP for Corruption
- Devi Sharan Upadhyay (2024) – Suspended for illegally allotting 35 land plots in Aligarh.
- T.K. Shibu (2022) – Suspended while serving as Sonbhadra DM for misuse of power.
- Sunil Kumar Verma – Suspended for abusing his position as Auraiya DM.
- Devendra Kumar Pandey – Faced suspension as Unnao DM over irregularities in the education department.
- Amarnath Upadhyay – Suspended as Maharajganj DM for corruption in cattle protection schemes.
- Kedarnath Singh – Suspended during his tenure in the Tourism Department.
- Sharda Singh – Suspended for not following the OBC reservation rules in recruitment.
- Jitendra Bahadur Singh (2018) – Suspended for his role in the grain scam while serving as a DM.
- Kumar Prashant – Suspended as Fatehpur DM for irregularities in wheat procurement.
UP Government’s Strong Action Against Corruption
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been firm against corruption and has taken action against several officers. While some have been reinstated, the UP government continues to crack down on officials found guilty of misusing their power.
