Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has been granted bail by the Supreme Court, providing him relief after 17 months. Sisodia is currently in Tihar Jail, specifically in Jail Number 1.
Sources indicate that Sisodia might exit through Gate Number 3 of Tihar Jail. Prisoners in Jail Number 1 typically leave through this gate. However, if there are security concerns, he could be released through another gate. The exact time of his release will depend on when the bail order is processed.
According to the procedure, the Supreme Court’s order will first be sent to the Rouse Avenue Court. At Rouse Avenue, Sisodia will need to complete the bail bond and meet other bail conditions. Once this is done, the bail order will be sent to Tihar Jail.
The Supreme Court has granted bail to Sisodia in both the CBI and ED cases. The court based its decision on the prolonged pre-trial detention and delays in the trial. The court noted that bail is the norm and imprisonment is an exception. While Sisodia is granted bail, the trial for his cases is not expected to conclude soon.
