Mohammad Rizwan’s Special Inning: Pakistani wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan, who had been struggling with his batting for some time, finally found his form against Bangladesh in the first Test being played in Rawalpindi. At the end of the first day, Rizwan was unbeaten on 24 runs, but on the second day, he showcased his strength as a batsman by playing a remarkable innings of 171 not out.
Crucial Partnership with Vice-Captain:
On the second day against Bangladesh, Pakistan was in a tough spot with four wickets down for just 114 runs. However, vice-captain Saud Shakeel (141) and Mohammad Rizwan (171) formed a crucial partnership, adding 240 runs for the fifth wicket, which helped Pakistan post a strong total.
Rizwan Misses Double Century:
Rizwan was looking set for a double century, but his fans were disappointed when captain Shan Masood declared the innings with Rizwan unbeaten on 171. The captain wanted to give Bangladesh 20-25 overs to bat in the final session. Despite missing out on a double century, Rizwan’s innings was still very special.
Rizwan Joins an Elite Club:
With this innings, Rizwan became the first Pakistani wicketkeeper since 2009 to score more than 150 runs in a Test inning. He also became only the fifth wicketkeeper-batsman in Pakistan’s history to score more than 150 runs in a Test inning, joining the likes of Imtiaz Ahmed, Taslim Arif, Rashid Latif, and Kamran Akmal.
