Shubman Gill and Avesh Khan will reportedly be heading home after India’s final T20 World Cup group match against Canada in Florida on 15 June. Although they arrived in Florida with the team, they will not be joining the squad for the Super Eight stage of the competition in the West Indies.
The decision to send Gill and Avesh back was not part of the original plan and was made at a late stage by the team management, reports CricketNext. Rinku Singh and Khaleel Ahmed are the other reserve players travelling with the team, but they will remain with the squad.
During the team’s time in New York for the initial three games, the reserve players trained with the main squad. While Khaleel, Avesh, and Rinku showed support from the stands during the intense match against Pakistan, Gill was absent, choosing to remain in the hotel.
fter winning all three games in challenging conditions in New York, Rohit Sharma will look to keep their winning streak intact as they head into the Super Eight stage. However, the weather forecast in Florida is unfavourable with rain since the team’s arrival.
The team will reportedly rest on 13 June and undergo training on 14 June only if the weather permits.
