From October 1, there will be important changes in the telecom sector that will make it easier for customers to know which mobile service—2G, 3G, 4G, or 5G—is available in their area. According to the new rules, all telecom companies must display this information on their websites so that customers can choose the right service based on their needs.
Sometimes, a company may provide 5G service in a big city but only 2G service in a smaller town. Now, telecom companies must provide information about the quality of their services on their websites. Previously, such details were not shared publicly by telecom companies.
Changes from October 1
From October 1, only secure URLs and OTP links will be allowed for communication messages. Additionally, TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) has ordered that all telemarketing calls starting with the 140 series should be shifted to a digital platform by September 30 to make monitoring easier.
These new rules will benefit customers as they will know which services are available in their area and which company offers better quality. This will not only provide accurate information to customers but also push telecom companies to improve their networks and be more responsible towards customers.

Instructions to Improve Online Services
TRAI has instructed all telecom companies to improve their online services. The new rule will combine the Mobile Telephone Service Rules 2009, Wireless Data Quality Rules 2012, and Broadband Service Rules 2006. These new rules will come into effect from October 1.
